The Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation Funds Catholic Education
Primus Technologies is an electronics manufacturing and services firm based in Pennsylvania that works with companies in the complex industrial, transportation, aerospace, defense, and healthcare industries. In addition to providing product manufacturing, design, and testing services, Primus Technologies also believes in giving back to the community, and recently made a $300,000 donation to the Diocese of Scranton.
The generous donation was made specifically to the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation, an initiative which helps financial support local families who wish for their children to obtain a Catholic education through private Diocesan schools. The scholarships are awarded to children enrolled in a Pre-K or K-12 program at any school within the Diocese of Scranton whose family income is less than $76,350 a year. Applications for these scholarships are evaluated by the Private School Aid Service (PSAS), ranked by need within each school using objective criteria, and awarded to children from over 1000 families every year.
The Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation is funded predominantly via earned income tax credit and opportunity scholarship tax credit contributions, and the involvement of Pennsylvania businesses is crucial to the support of local Catholic school students. Corporate leaders who are interested in making donations to the program can find out more about it and the benefits of contribution on the Diocese’s website at www.dioceseofscranton.org.
